Who’s in charge in a chimpanzee family? Why do chimps groom each other? What’s the difference between a pant hoot and a pant grunt? No, it’s nothing to do with underwear! For the answers to all these questions & more, come and join us at the park next week as we celebrate our closest cousins, the chimpanzees, for World Chimpanzee Day, and the anniversary of the rescue of our first 9 chimps, 38 years ago! We’ll be learning all about chimpanzee communication & how to identify the different chimps here at Monkey World, and all their rescue and rehabilitation stories.
As well as seeing our 51 chimpanzees here at the park, kids can take part in free trails packed with information when exploring the park, then visit the Children’s Activity Centre from 12pm every day, to make a feeder for the chimps, test out the different vocalisations, and even create some Sand Art to take home as a memento of the fun day out!
