Past Fundraising Efforts

See all the great ways supprters have fundraised for us in the past!

Caroline - Monkey World Primate Care Staff!
Event: Bournemouth Marathon
Date: 6 October 2013

Primate Care Staff member Caroline is now officially in training for her first ever marathon on the 6th October in Bournemouth, with a whopping 26.2 miles to cover!

She says "It's going to be hard work, but worth it!" Keen to assist the fundraising efforts at the park, she has decided to "run for the boys" with all funds received going specifically to the park's weighing scales appeal. "We desperately need a set of scales that are big enough and strong enough to weigh the chimpanzees in Butch's group," says Caroline. "If we need to carry out any veterinary procedures, or give them any medication, it is vital that we have an accurate weight for them. The scales will also help us monitor the boys on a daily basis, and enable us to know immediately if any of the boys are either losing weight or, in the case of Sammy and Jestah, piling on a few too many pounds."

Danielle Eskdale
Event: Sky Dive at Peterlee Parachute Centre
Date: 29 August 2011

Danielle says: "Approaching my 21st birthday i wanted to do something big and something not many people do in their lives.  We decided on a skydive and thought it the perfect fundraising opportunity, with the first fund in mind being the Jim Cronin Memorial Fund.

Although I live at the opposite end of the country to the park, I have visited once and watch the programmes always.  It's such an amazing place with amazing people doing such amazing jobs.  I'm asking friends and family to please contribute to my sponsors in place of any gifts for my 21st.  I hope to raise as much as possible, so please share my link with people you know.  Thanks in advance!"

Luretta Shepherd (nee Spearing)
Event: London Marathon 2010
Date: Sunday 2010

Luretta says: "I ran my first marathon in New York in 2008, and managed to acheive a qualifying time for this years London Marathon. The day after the marathon in New York I found out that we'd lost my Nan just two days before the marathon. I promised then to run the 2010 London marathon in her memory. But also want to put the place to good use, and after my last trip to Monkey World I decided it would be most fitting to run for the Jim Cronin Memorial Fund."

Full of admiration for the work done at Monkey World, Luretta and her fiance Brett decided to get married at the park in June 2010! Our congratulations go to Mr & Mrs Shepherd and many thanks for all their support!
